What To Expect
The first session or two with Dr. Ramquist will be a time for you talk about what has brought you in to therapy, and work out an overall structure and timeframe for therapy that best suits your needs. If you need a kind of intervention that Dr. Ramquist does not offer, she will provide you with referrals to therapists who do the kind of work that is best for you.
Dr. Ramquist uses the evidence-based treatments of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy for trauma-related difficulties. She offers brief talk-therapy interventions to make your time in therapy the most efficient and to help you get back on your feet at work and in life. Dr. Ramquist also has a background in practicing psychodynamic therapy and will utilize this form of therapy for longer forms of therapy (i.e., over 3 months). Depending on the reason that you are seeking psychotherapy, sometimes interventions are brief (i.e., 3-4 sessions), and sometimes a course of therapy takes longer to sort through and heal from the difficulties that you have experienced. |
